Dr. Katie Burggraaf is a Grand Rapids native who graduated from Forest Hills Central High School before earning both her undergraduate and dental doctorate degrees from the University of Michigan, where she graduated in 2007.
During dental school, Dr. Burggraaf met her husband, David, an engineer for Medtronic. After graduating, the couple moved to Boston for a few years before returning to Grand Rapids to settle down. They have two boys: Declan, who loves basketball and plays competitively, and Nolan, who enjoys both basketball and football, as well as a dog named Yost. When she’s not practicing dentistry, Dr. Burggraaf enjoys traveling, boating, water sports, and cheering on the Wolverines with her family.
With a passion for lifelong learning, Dr. Burggraaf has dedicated hundreds of hours to continuing education. The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education has played a pivotal role in shaping her approach to patient care. She is deeply committed to delivering exceptional, comprehensive care with a focus on relationship-building and trust. Dr. Burggraaf now serves on the advisory board at the Pankey Institute and has begun teaching, assisting visiting faculty.
In addition to her work at the institute, Dr. Burggraaf participates in study clubs with like-minded dentists and specialists in the area to continue growing in her field. She is also passionate about giving back to the community and volunteers at the Baxter Clinic, providing dental care to underserved populations.
